Tochigi prefecture is a prefecture located in the Kanto region of Japan. The prefectural capital is Utsunomiya-shi. It is an inland prefecture with no coastline.
The prefecture is bordered by Ibaraki Prefecture to the east, Fukushima Prefecture to the north, Gunma Prefecture to the west, and Ibaraki, Saitama, and Gunma prefectures to the south. Utsunomiya City, the capital of Tochigi Prefecture, is located about 100km from Tokyo.
Tochigi is also famous as a tourist destination, with natural parks such as Nikko and Nasu, and hot springs such as Nasu Onsen, Shiobara Onsen, and Okukinu Onsen. Because of its proximity to the Tokyo metropolitan region, transportation and tourist facilities are well-maintained, and it attracts a large number of domestic and international visitors.
